Full Rewires
Full and partial rewires and consumer unit upgrades that bring your home up to today's standards.
Does Your Home Need a Rewire?
Wiring doesn't last forever. Signs that your home may need rewiring include:
- An old fuse box with rewireable fuses or no RCD protection
- Rubber, fabric or lead-sheathed cables
- Round-pin sockets or sockets on skirting boards
- Frequent tripping, flickering lights or scorch marks
- An EICR recommending rewiring
- Wiring that is more than 25–30 years old
How a Rewire Works
A rewire is a big job, so it's planned carefully with you from the start: where you want sockets and lights, and how to keep disruption down while you're living in the property.
- First fix. New cables are run and back boxes fitted, before plastering.
- Second fix. Sockets, switches, lights and a new consumer unit are fitted.
- Testing & certification. The whole installation is tested and you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate, with Part P notification handled for you.
Consumer Unit Upgrades
If your wiring is sound but your fuse board is out of date, a consumer unit upgrade adds modern RCD/RCBO protection and surge protection without a full rewire.
Common Questions
How long does a full rewire take?
A typical three-bed house takes around 5–8 working days, depending on its size and access.
Can I stay in the house during a rewire?
Usually, yes. Work is planned room by room, and power is restored at the end of each day wherever possible.
